We transfer your Jaz Disk to accessible files on a USB or External Hard Drive.
Iomega’s Jaz was released in 1995 as a follow up to the company’s successful Zip drive. Unlike the Zip, or previous floppy disk formats, despite a similar size and appearance, Iomega’s Jaz disks contained 2 stacked hard drive platters, running at a much higher speed. This offered users a feasible hard drive surrogate, at a relatively affordable price of $99 per 1 GB disk (10 cents per megabyte).
What may be due to a publicized hardware failure rate, the Jaz drive remained a niche product, failing to meet the market success of Iomega’s superfloppy Zip format.
